The Employment category provides information and resources for school professionals, families and students with disabilities regarding employment options and employment strategies. Earning a high school diploma is foundational for secure and meaningful career opportunities for all students. Finding meaningful employment is a challenge for all students who do not earn a high school diploma. The outcomes for students with disabilities who do not earn a high school diploma are even more concerning. Supporting students with disabilities to earn a high school diploma will increase their ability to find meaningful employment and will improve the financial outlook for their future (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2016).
The information in the Employment category is divided into the following three sections:
U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. (2016). Economic news release: Employment status of the civilian noninstitutional population by disability status and selected characteristics, 2016 annual averages.
