Accommodations & Considerations

Supporting students to overcome the impact of their disability and reach their desired goals

This section focuses on the supports that transition age youth need as they prepare for future employment. According to Beech (2010), "accommodations make it possible for students to work around the effect of their disabilities" (p.3). Figuring out how to use one's strengths and find support in areas that present challenges is on-going across time and place for all individuals, both those with and without disabilities. As students with disabilities consider their next steps for postsecondary training, postsecondary education and employment, there are many resources that can help them achieve their goals.

Enjoy the exploration!
