The Pinellas
Technical College offers career, technical and continuing education courses or
commercial training classes for industry. Students in extended transition
attend career-technical courses alongside non-disabled adults and are provided
support by ESE teachers. Results and recommendations following a Career
Assessment, is a prerequisite for placement.

This is a
one year, business led, school to work internship program that takes place at
All Children’s Hospital. The program’s primary objective is to secure
competitive employment for students with disabilities by giving them marketable
work skills. Students participate in a 3-week orientation followed by three
10-week rotations within Food Services, Environmental Services and
Rehabilitation departments. All Children’s is the 21st Project
SEARCH site in Florida and the first site on Florida’s west coast.

This
two-year university/college, community-based collaborative program offers young
adults with intellectual disabilities, ages 18 to 22, an opportunity to
experience life on a college campus while developing self-determination,
independent living, and employability skills. The program focuses on
independent living in the community, preparation for employment, community
based work experience, on-the-job training, placement in competitive integrated
employment, development of self-determination skills, and establishment and
maintenance of positive social and work relationships. Students must meet
specific program eligibility in order to submit an application for this program.
