The SKILL Program was established by the Santa Rosa County School District in 2010 at Milton High School but moved to join the partnership withNAS Whiting Field in 2015 in conjunction with the SITE Program. It is a unique opportunity for "interns" with significant cognitive disabilities, ages 18-21 who have deferred the standard diploma , to have continuous support within a 1:3 small group ratio from an ESE instructor, job coach and possibly related services staff in order to develop their skills in a community based vocational education program in preparation for adult living. The goal of the program is to move interns from continuous support to a more independent level of functioning for supported employment. Interns may participate 1-4 years depending on their progression of skills and the IEP Team's recommendation for the SITE Program, attaining employment, &/or turning age 22.

Linda Andrews

(850) 983-5168

The SITE Program was established by the Santa Rosa County School District in August of 2000. The program is the result of a partnership between the Exceptional Student Education Department, Workforce Education Department and the United States Navy. It is a unique opportunity for "interns" with significant cognitive disabilities, ages 18-21 who have deferred the standard diploma, to have intermittent support within a small group, without a need for 1:3 ratio, from an ESE instructor, job coach and possibly related services staff in order to develop their skills in a community based vocational education program in preparation for adult living. The goal of the program is to move interns from intermittent support to an independent level of functioning for competitive employment. Interns may participate for 1-4 years depending on their progression of skills and the IEP Team's recommendation for Project SEARCH, attaining employment and/or turning age 22.
