This construction program is offered in conjunction with Seminole Community
College which provides opportunities for continued study after students earn a
Certificate of Completion. Pilot site funds will be used to enhance and expand
the Academy.

This one-year program
following the SCPS calendar is designed for students with a variety of
disabilities who have a goal of employment and have completed the High School
credits necessary for graduation with a Special Diploma. Students must be at
least 18 years old, demonstrate a desire to work, and be able to follow
directions. They must also demonstrate social and communication skills, have
independent toileting and feeding skills, and meet dress code requirements.

The purpose of the “The DEN” is to provide real world work experience in a school store setting. The students are responsible for selling balloons, snacks and spirit gear. They maintain the inventory, order products, balance daily sales, turn in deposits and promote the merchandise being sold in the store.
