EAGLE Connections Program

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4553ifNCHU

“The mission of the EAGLE Connections program at Tallahassee Community College is to provide a course of study that includes career exploration, work experience, and social activities while empowering young adults with significant cognitive disabilities to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to become independent and productive citizens.”

The program offers young adults with disabilities an opportunity to experience life on a college campus while developing self-determination, independent living, and employability skills.

EAGLE Connections is a collaborative effort between Tallahassee Community College,  Florida State University, and Leon County Schools.

EAGLE Connections is aligned with the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) Public Law 110-315, which allows the creation of new programs for students with disabilities.

Students that are accepted into the program will be involved in orientation activities throughout the summer term, to begin coursework in the fall. For more information contact DSS Office by phone (850) 201-8430 or e-mail DSS@tcc.fl.edu.

The Transition Program ensures a seamless transition from school to independent adult life for young people with disabilities who need continuing employment and agency supports, as well as community and life skills training.  It is our intent that students, upon exiting the program, will have full or part time employment in a vocation of their choosing.  They will function independently in the community and in the home to the best of their abilities and will contribute positively to their family and to their community.
