Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP)
The Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) or present levels statement must accurately describe the effect of the student’s disability on his/her participation and progress in the general curriculum. It should include a description of the student’s current educational and functional performance, including grade or functioning level, to determine the goals and services the student needs. It must include a description of the remediation needed to pass the state assessment for students who participate in the general statewide assessment. For students of transition age (14-22), many IEP teams choose to incorporate age-appropriate transition assessment information into the present level of academic achievement and functional performance.
