Child Labor Laws

Information on employing minors ages 14-17 and child labor laws is available on the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), Division of Regulation, Child Labor Program website.

The DBPR' s Child Labor program enforces child labor laws that are "designed to protect the health, education and welfare of Florida's working minors in the workplace and to safeguard their education. The program's mission two primary objectives are as follows:

1. To establish limits on a number of hours that minors may work, so that minors will be able and available for school; and
2. To restrict the types of jobs minors may perform for safety reasons."
